Today the apple blossom is almost out, I love the colour and the scent.
and I had a lovely surprise.
A few days ago Jenny Ladbrooke contacted me to ask if I minded her using my Eccentric Crosses pattern which is on my website as a free download, so of course I told her to go ahead. She sent this lovely picture:
Its for the Pantone challenge using the colour Marsala which is a warm brown.
Great isn't it!

Eccentric Crosses
I had a lovely day yesterday teaching this bag at the lovely quilt shop Tuliptree Designs at Groveland, yesterday. I forgot to take pictures but I'm sure the students will show off their work when they have completed their bags.
I had a small experiment with doubled crosses, some people call them hash-tags!
This gave me something on which to demonstrate the quilting process. This would make a nice iPad case or small zipped pouch. I am thinking of things I might make for a sales table when I have a quilt show at the end of August.

Eccentric Crosses
Here are the Eccentric Crosses blocks that I've been working on this week. The fabric is from the lovely shop at Groveland near Cromer, called Tuliptree Designs. and these are samples for a class I will be teaching there.
I like the blocks that are low contrast where the crosses do not show up too strongly, although you need both kinds to make a good design. Then I played with the colour combinations.

Experimental Blocks
The blocks on the design wall are not very portable so I took some fabric to quilt group to experiment with some eccentric cross blocks. First I made some big ones to explore the technique, then played with a pack of pretty Oakshott pastels in eighths given to me by my good friend Julia Oakshott.
I like playing with colour and exploring design ideas so I had an interesting time. These are free cut with a rotary cutter and will be trimmed to size later. I have lots more cut out.
