New Work

I've been remiss about posting for a bit but I have been getting on with stitching, and also have spent a lot of time in the garden!

Here, finished at last is my green and grey "Chartreuse Wonder".
Mandy Parks has as usual done a fantastic job on the quilting, the curvy pattern is called Helm and suits the straight line piecing very well.

I've made this design three times now, although I've managed to loose the pink and turquoise top... it must be somewhere at the bottom of a box or bag!

I've even made a bag with the same patchwork pattern.

This is the Applecore quilt that Mandy has quilted with a straight-line pattern called Knitterly, again very suitable on top of all those curves. This is rotary cut with a Marti Michell template and machine pieced, but it isn't very big as I got bored and had something else that I was working on that also needed finishing. I bound the edge with bias binding cut from the yellow that is in the quilt and I really like it against the pinks and blues.

I decided when I came to do the sleeve that actually it looked better this way up.
these two are heading for the Modern Quilt specialist group stand at Festival Of Quilts in Birmingham in August, and then to my exhibition in the Church at Catfield at the end of that month.

Grey one growing

For some reason this one, my third play with the plusses pattern, doesn't seem to be finished yet. I keep adding more and it still isn't telling me "enough already"!

But true to form I'm working on more than one thing and am still adding to my apple cores as you can see on the right! They need pinning and it is a job that can be done in front of the TV, then each morning I can get a few more joined up.

And today I carried on with my Sunday job (always something off task!) and stitched up twelve little houses for pincushions or Christmas ornaments. That gives me a task for quilt group tomorrow that doesnt need me to tote a sewing machine. I can just stuff..

Another top done!

I finished the Plusses quilt top this morning before setting off to Quilt group. I think it will look stunning when it's been long arm quilted.

At quilt group Linda showed her Cowboy Boots quilt which her son took to the states and got quilted for £35, just a stars and loops panto, but great to get it done.

Then when I got home there was an email from Jenny with a picture of the block she has made for her Sampler quilt, following on from the Rattlesnake class I taught. She had to  reduce the size of the pattern to make the block fit her scheme. It looks really good on point, and I love it when students take the technique and go off and do their own thing!
